“TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND KEEP ON GOING”

I had the opportunity to, once again, work with the wonderful Erinrose, on her winter shoot for Alf & Roe. Not glorified, not perfect, not size 6, not radiant skin, not tanned, not modelly, not experienced, this is the frankest expression. Putting myself infront of a professional photographer is not something i had planned on, actually I would've shuddered at the thought of it. Confidence is one thing, but image confidence is a totally different aspect, which I definitely struggle with - like most of us do - male & female. But listening to my support system and them telling me to put my face to the business and 'model' the clothes myself made me consider it. The fact I had a small budget for this photoshoot and couldnt afford to pay pro models, and my model friends were busy working - left me with limited options. The photographer and venue had been booked so I had to get my ass in gear and get going. The nerves were eased alot by the support of Jayne - a friend of mine in the same boat as me - encouraging the idea of us doing it together! One thing that we did have in our favour, was our love of vintage clothing, styling and both seeing it as an art form. The buzz and the excitement we got off putting this series of outfits together and the fun we had doing it, is what we really want you to see in these images. Also Filly, my photographer of choice, knew how to handle us - giving great direction and joining in on the craic of it all. Love him! As I get older, I care less and less about what people will think if I do this or do that, which has been liberating - but there is still that little itch of self doubt. So this is my idea of saying f*** it! I hope you enjoy these images and understand we aren't trying to be Gigi and Bella, we are just wanting to express our love for this little shop and these gorgeous clothes (slightly bias). These photoshoots that I have done and hope to do more of are an alternative () take on the latest fashion trends and something different for you to look at - subtly promoting sustainability, originanality and self expression.
